Home AED · Ready to use out of the box

Put a defibrillator where 7 out of 10 cardiac arrests happen: at home.

Most sudden cardiac arrests strike where we live, yet nearly every defibrillator hangs in an airport, a gym, an office. Preponomy closes that gap: a hospital-grade AED installed in your home, or the home of someone you love.

Most cardiac arrests happen at home, yet almost every defibrillator hangs in public places. Preponomy brings one home: a hospital-grade AED, installed and ready.

Objections, answered

The three questions every family asks first.

The question The answer

"Would an AED actually change the outcome?"

More than anything else can. In cardiac arrest, survival drops about 7 to 10% with every minute that passes without a shock. EMS often takes 7 minutes or more to arrive, and much longer in rural areas. An AED at home fills those first minutes, while the odds are still high.

"It looks complicated to use."

Anyone can use it. The AED talks whoever reaches for it through every step. Open it, follow the voice. There are no decisions to make and no medical knowledge required. It's built so an untrained person, alone and under stress, can still act with confidence.

"Will it still work if we don't need it for years?"

That's exactly what it's built for. The device runs automatic self-tests on its battery and systems on a set schedule, and a green check on the front means it's ready. A quick glance is all it asks of you. With optional Wi-Fi, it even emails you if anything ever needs attention.

How it works

From order to protected in three steps.

No box left at the door. Everything is set up, tested and explained, so everyone at home is ready from day one.

Order your package

One package, everything included. Order online in a couple of minutes, with free shipping in about 10 days.

02

Set it up on a video call

Your AED arrives ready to use. A specialist joins you on a video call to pick the right spot, mount it, run a test, and answer every question.

03

Learn it if you want to

The device needs no training to work. Virtual training is included if needed, and we can put you in touch with a CPR-certified instructor near you for hands-on practice.

No wrong moves

You can't make the wrong call. The device makes it for you.

The fear isn't cardiac arrest, it's freezing when it happens. Modern AEDs are built for exactly that moment: the device reads the heart itself and will not deliver a shock unless one is needed.

Why the Automatic AED 3

Advanced technology, built for untrained hands.

Proven Real CPR Help technology gives real-time feedback on compression rate and depth, so anyone can deliver high-quality CPR.

01 · RapidShock™

RapidShock™ Analysis

One of the shortest rhythm analysis times in the industry: a shock in as little as 5 seconds when needed. Less pause time means more lifesaving CPR and better outcomes in sudden cardiac arrest.

02 · Pediatric rescue

Integrated Pediatric Rescue

CPR Uni-padz® electrodes work for both adults and children. To treat a child, just activate Child Mode with the same pads: ready whether the victim is 7 or 70.

03 · Connectivity

Wi-Fi Peace of Mind

With optional Wi-Fi, the AED checks itself and reports its status to the cloud. If a self-test ever fails or a pad or battery runs low, you get an alert, even from 2,000 miles away. Perfect for knowing the device is ready wherever it matters, at home or across the country.

04 · Rescue data

Shareable Rescue Record

The AED records exactly what happened: shocks delivered, CPR quality, timing. That report can be exported afterwards and shared with the paramedics or the hospital, so nothing about the rescue is lost.

Everything above, in one device. Ready the day it arrives.

In their own words.

“
It’s important to have AEDs because it’s the reason I’m here. Everybody thinks an AED is just for a trainer or someone that’s trained — but even if [you’re] not trained on it, [an AED] can walk [you] through the steps and show [you] how to save somebody’s life.
Spencer Davis · SCA survivor
“
He was gone. His face was purple, he had no pulse, and he was rigid. If this had happened somewhere without an AED, [John] would have died.
Gus Orlando · Rescuer, Gold’s Gym, East Northport, N.Y.
“
I have no memory of the moment when my heart stopped. I was at work, like any other day. But without warning, I collapsed. No pain, no signs — just gone. Fortunately, I wasn’t alone. My colleagues acted with lightning speed. They knew that every second counted. While one of them immediately started chest compressions, another fetched the AED that we were lucky enough to have in the company. Until that day, I had never imagined that it would one day save my life.
Klaus Dorfmuller · SCA survivor
“
The thing I really liked about [using the AED] was the beep it made every time you’re supposed to compress the person’s chest. It was very intuitive.
Hunter Barton · Rescuer
“
The AED was so helpful; it confirmed that we had the right diagnosis. It gave me a lot of confidence.
Keira Macfarland · Volunteer Park Ranger
“
I would tell anybody, if they get a chance, to support [installing] more defibrillators. I wouldn’t be here without that thing. Support these charities that do good work; give something back to the system that saved your life.

Honest answers

The questions everyone asks.

The fire station is five minutes from my house. Do I really need this?
Even with a station nearby, the national average from 911 call to arrival is about seven minutes: dispatch, travel, finding the door, reaching the patient. Survival odds drop roughly 10% for every minute without defibrillation. An AED on your wall starts the response at minute zero, not minute seven.
What exactly is sudden cardiac arrest? Isn't that a heart attack?
They're different. A heart attack is a plumbing problem (a blocked artery) and the person is usually conscious. Cardiac arrest is an electrical problem: the heart abruptly stops pumping, the person collapses, and without CPR and a shock, survival is measured in minutes. An AED is the only consumer device that treats it.
We're a healthy family. Is this really for us?
Cardiac arrest often strikes without prior symptoms, and hundreds of thousands of Americans experience one outside a hospital each year. Risk rises with age, blood pressure and family history, which is why many of our customers buy for their parents' home as well as their own.
Does someone need training to use it?
No. The AED talks the rescuer through every step and makes every decision for them, so it works in hands that have never touched one. Training is a bonus, not a prerequisite: virtual onboarding and training are included with every order, and we can connect you with a CPR-certified instructor locally for hands-on practice.
Could I hurt someone by using it wrong?
No. The AED analyzes the heart's rhythm itself and will only deliver a shock if one is medically needed. It's physically incapable of shocking a healthy heart, and clear voice prompts guide whoever's there through every step.
Can it be used on a child?
Yes, but it depends on the model. On the AED 3, CPR Uni-padz® work for both adults and children on the same pad set: the rescuer simply activates Child Mode and the AED adjusts its energy and guidance. On the Essential Home AED, the pads included are for adults and children over 8; pediatric pads for younger children are sold separately, and the device recognises them and adapts automatically once connected.
Am I liable if I use it and the person doesn't survive?
Good Samaritan laws in all 50 states protect bystanders who step in to help during an emergency, including the use of an AED, from liability when acting in good faith. Because specifics vary by state, we can share the details for your area.
Is a home AED different from the ones professionals use?
The shock it delivers is the same FDA-cleared defibrillation first responders rely on, and just as effective. The difference is control: the advanced monitors paramedics and hospitals use let a trained clinician read the ECG and choose the energy and timing by hand, plus extras like pacing and cardiac monitoring. A home AED automates all of that: it analyzes the rhythm itself, guides the rescuer by voice, and leaves no decisions to make, so an untrained person can act under stress.
Which model should I choose?
Both are FDA-cleared, coach CPR in real time and talk the rescuer through every step. The Fully Automatic AED 3 ($4,300) adds faster rhythm analysis (a shock in as little as 5 seconds), pediatric rescue on the same set of pads with a child mode, and optional Wi-Fi that reports readiness and emails you if anything needs attention. The Essential Home AED ($2,600) covers the fundamentals: Real CPR Help®, one-piece pads and IP55 ruggedness, with pediatric pads sold separately. Both hold a 5-year battery and pads, and both come with free shipping and a 5-year return policy.
Can I buy it for someone else's home, like a parent or relative?
Absolutely. Many of our customers buy an AED for a parent's or relative's home. We can ship and set it up at whatever address you choose, so the people you love are protected wherever they live.
Do I need a prescription to buy an AED?
Technically yes, both models require a prescription, but you don't have to do anything: we handle it for you. Your prescription is generated automatically as part of the order, so there's no doctor's visit or paperwork on your end.
Is it covered by insurance, HSA/FSA, or tax-deductible?
It often is. At checkout you'll find a "Pay with HSA/FSA" option powered by Truemed: you're redirected to complete the purchase with your HSA or FSA card, and your eligibility is checked as part of it. Eligibility depends on your plan and your own health situation, so that check is the quickest way to know for sure.
How fast does it ship, and is it ready out of the box?
Shipping is free and takes about 10 days. The AED arrives ready to use, with the battery and pads installed. Turn it on, follow the voice prompts, and it's good to go from day one.
What's the warranty and return policy?
The AED is backed by an 8-year manufacturer's warranty, and every order comes with a 5-year return policy. If it isn't the right fit for your home, you can send it back.
Do I have to keep checking that it works?
Very little. Both models run automatic self-tests on their battery and internal systems and show a green check when they're ready (a red X if something needs attention), so a quick weekly glance at the indicator is all it asks of you. On the AED 3, optional Wi-Fi goes further: it reports its readiness and emails you if a self-test ever fails, so you'll know it's ready even when you're not in the house.
How long do the pads and battery last?
Five years for both models: the battery holds a 5-year standby life, and so do the electrodes (CPR Uni-padz® on the AED 3, CPR-D-padz® on the Essential Home AED). Each AED self-tests automatically and signals well ahead of time when a pad or battery needs replacing, so it stays ready between check-ins.
Can I monitor it remotely if I don't live there?
Yes, with the AED 3. Once its optional Wi-Fi is enabled, AEDTrax, the monitoring service included with the device, reports its readiness to the cloud and alerts you by email if a self-test ever fails or a pad or battery runs low, so you'll know the device is ready even from hundreds of miles away. The Essential Home AED has no Wi-Fi: it still self-tests on its own, but the status is only visible on the device itself, so someone in the home needs to glance at the indicator (a green check means ready, a red X means it needs attention). If you're buying for a home you don't live in, the AED 3 is the better choice.
Do you help us after the AED arrives?
Yes. Every order includes a virtual setup call to mount and test the device, plus virtual training for everyone in the home. If you'd rather practise in person, we can connect you with a CPR-certified instructor near you. And if anything comes up later, our support team stays reachable at 310-760-6264 or support@preponomy.com.
